Define “Broadcast Journalism” in 1-3 sentences.
Reporting of Current Events.



List and describe the six criteria of newsworthiness.
1. Unusualness - News is the different, the unusual, the out of the ordinary. Ex: Church Roof Collapsing
2. Significance - Important Events, ones that affect many people, are news. Ex: Taxes, Elections, Wars, Scientific Discoveries, Economy
3. Timeliness - Old news isn't news: it's History. Ex: People want to hear about the flood while it's happening, not a month later
4. Proximity - People want to know about nearby events. Ex: Local School gang activity, local fire
5. Prominence - When well-known people, buildings, or places are involved, that is news. Ex: Zac Efron being arrested
6. Human Interest - Stories about ordinary people or animals, humorous or dramatic. Ex: Stories that are hearwarming or heart-wrenching
